Your surroundings don’t just influence you—you are shaped by them.
- Mental capacity: Your cognitive bandwidth is limited by the wrong environment; the right inputs stretch your thinking.
- Personal growth: You either expand or contract based on what you accept being or aspire to become.
- Agency: “Tolerate” is a key word here—you have a choice. You don’t passively grow, you must cultivate growth.
If your environment is small, constraining, or stagnant, you don’t just think smaller—you become smaller. The only way out? Either change your environment or refuse to let it define you.
Likewise, if you can shrink to fit, you can also grow to match. The question is: Are you just avoiding a bad environment—or actively building a great one?
What’s something you’ve stopped tolerating that helped you grow?
What’s one shift that helped you expand?
