Managed Print Services (MPS) is everywhere. It’s being talked about, read about, and sold most certainly across the US and the pace rapidly increasing throughout the world. That being said, there are still so many permutations of what is being referred to as MPS, it’s hard to for someone, like me, who works in this industry to fully get my arms around it.
As the saying goes, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” The Photizo Group intends, led by Ed Crowley, has stepped forth and raised the banner to begin an industry association dedicated to promoting the best practices in MPS called the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA).
Ed had this to say on the Photizo Group blog:
One question that may be asked is why doesn’t another group (such as the Business Technology Association or COMPTIA) form an MPS Association. While this could be possible, I believe most of these groups have an existing constituency with their own set of pre-existing motivations, member preferences, and requirements. The MPS industry is unique in that it draws from a very broad base across the technology, reseller, and end user community. As such, I believe it would benefit from the formation of a new organization which does not have an existing charter or direction.
