I'm a little confused as to how this could be misinterpreted as pure optimism:

"Vision is having a goal to which you aspire, as well as the ability of constructing the various achievement gates that comprise your goal; in other words, a hallmark of vision is the ability to break down the dream into digestible milestones, whereas hope is contentedly dreaming the dream."

Optimism is defined as, " a disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome."

Whereas, vision is defined as, "Unusual competence in discernment or perception; intelligent foresight: example: a leader of vision."

How would you derive my use as pure optimism?

Max, I agree with you on most points. However, I must differ on the point of vision.

Vision has to be more than just optimism. I can be optimistic that the economy will recover in February of 2009, but will it? I can be optimistic I will get that promotion next year, but what am I doing to ensure it? Vision has to be more deliberate than just being "hopeful".
